KERALA (6 Nights / 7 Days)
Day 1 : Cochin / Munnar
AM Arrive Cochin. Met and drive to Munnar (140 kms. / 4 ½ hrs. drive). On arrival check into hotel.
Once the summer resort of the erstwhile British Government in South India, Munnar is located at the confluence of 03 rivers as the very name signifies. The sprawling tea plantations and picturesque towns make Munnar a popular hill resort in South India.

Day 2 : Munnar
AM Sightseeing of Munnar visiting the tea plantations, The Eravikulam National park home of the endangered Nilgiri Thar (Ibex), followed by visit to the Mattupetty dam, , The Kundala Lake and other scenic spots.

Day 3 : Munnar / Thekkady
Morning drive to Thekkady (120 kms. / 4 hrs.) On arrival check into hotel.
Thekkady has one of the world’s most fascinating natural wildlife reserves noted for its geography, diverse wildlife and scenic beauty.
Later proceed for a spice plantation visit where one can see the cultivation of a whole range of spices like pepper, cardamom, cloves, turmeric, vanilla, cinnamon etc. this followed by a visit to the spice shops large and small which are found in the town of Kumily.

Day 4 : Thekkady
Early Morning - Jungle walk with specially trained guides for early morning treks into the jungle - the treks are of 3 to 4 hrs. duration. These treks are an ideal way to really feel the forest and to experience it closely. Later boat ride in Lake Periyar where one can have a unique experience of viewing wildlife at close quarters from the safety of a boat on the lake. The greatest attraction of Periyar, however are the herds of wild elephants that come down to play in the lake. (Wildlife viewing is always dependent on one’s good fortune).

Day 5 : Thekkady / Alleppey – Houseboat.
Morning drive to Alleppey (160 kms. / 4 ½ hrs.) for an overnight Houseboat cruise or Homestay At 12 Noon board a ethnic houseboat for an overnight cruise to Alleppey which gives one a fascinating insight into the life of a Kerala Backwater Village. As the boat glides along the backwaters one can see the daily life in the backwater village on narrow strips of land, fisherman fishing, children swimming & playing in the water, women doing their daily chores, mobile shops in tiny canoes, the cultivation of paddy and its harvesting (during harvest season) huge country barges ferrying the coconuts, rice, coir etc., people travelling to the mainland for work and numerous small market places, tiny temples & churches etc.
Note : The cruise commences at 1300 hrs. with lunch served on board and continues till dusk. At dusk the boat will anchor in a wide waterway or lake for the night (the backwaters close to boat traffic at dusk as the fisherman lay their nets in the backwaters. Other boats are not allowed to ply in the backwaters after dusk).

Day 6 : Alleppey / Cochin
Morning drive to Cochin (80 kms. / 2 hrs.) On arrival check into hotel. Afternoon sightseeing of Cochin including Asia’s best preserved Synagogue, The Dutch Palace and the oldest European Church in India the St. Francis Church where Vasco Da Gama was originally buried. A leisurely walk through the Fort Cochin area, which gives you a close look at the operation of the huge cantilevered Chinese fishing nets introduced by Chinese traders which is still used in Kerala backwaters as a traditional way of fishing. Day 7 : Cochin Departure
12 Noon checkout from hotel. Departure transfer to Cochin Airport in time to connect Indigo Airlines flight 6E 528 at 1525 hrs to Bangalore. Arrive Bangalore at 1625 hrs
